The District Courts of Pakistan are courts that operate at the district level, they are controlled by the high courts. District courts exist in every district of each city of province, with civil and criminal jurisdiction. In each District Headquarters of city, there are numerous Additional District & Sessions Judges who usually preside over their respective courts. District & sessions Judge has executive and judicial power all over the district under his jurisdiction. Sessions court is also a trial court to deal with trial of heinous offences such as Murder, Rape (Zina), Harabbah offences relating to property and prohibition (EHO), murder in ducity cases, Foreign Exchange cases, P.E.C.O cases etc. It is also additionally appellate court for summary conviction offences and those who are convicted at trial before the courts of Learned Judicial Magistrate of 1st, 2nd and Small class and civil suits of the value upto 150,00,000. Each city have courts of Additional District & Sessions judge, which possesses the equal authority over, under its jurisdiction except Administrative Powers. When it proceeds criminal cases, it is called sessions court and when it proceeds civil cases, it becomes District court. Executive matters are brought before the conceved District & Sessions Judge.
